Dominica Chess Federation will host National Championship Trophy Ceremony at the Dominica State College

Roseau, Dominica, June 17, 2022:  The Dominica Chess Federation will host our National Championship trophy ceremony at the Dominica State College on Saturday June 18 at 3pm. The Dominica Chess Federation has completed its first ever National Chess Championships as a FIDE-recognized federation, over the weekend of May 13-15.

After 7 rounds of fierce competition only one person could emerge the winner; with the winner being determined by the player with the most points.

The point system being as follows:

The Government of Dominica has placed significant emphasis on the care and well-being of senior citizens on the island.

That’s according to the Minister for Seniors Security, Honourable Dr. Adis King.

She made this statement this week as Dominica observed World Elder Abuse Awareness 2022 under the theme “Digital Equity for All Ages”.

Maracha district officials arrested over mismanaging Shs 1.9bn

Two more Maracha district officials have been arrested over alleged abuse of office and misappropriation of government funds. They are Stephen Candia, the chief finance officer, and William Oneti, the district site supervisor.

People living and operating on crown land on Carmichael Rd. given 14 days to clear out

People who are unlawfully operating and living on a tract of cleared land in the Carmichael Road area were given 14 days to desist their violations before authorities move in and take action, Minister of National Security Wayne Munroe announced today.

“That’s 14 days from today. That’s the mission I gave the commodore,” Munroe said during a press briefing at the Office of the Prime Minister.

Munroe, along with officials from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, the Royal Bahamas Police Force, Department of Immigration and others, toured the area this morning.
