DREAMS program to chart economic pathway for local young women, new Labour Market Assessment shows

The U.S. government-funded DREAMS program, in unison with the Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service this week launched a Labour Market Assessment Report which identifies economic growth sectors, and occupational and entrepreneurship opportunities for adolescent girls and young women in the country.

June 17, 2022 (ENA) World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director David Beasley said the current humanitarian truce declared by the Ethiopian government has opened greater access to operations in Tigray region.

At the conclusion of his visit to Ethiopia, the executive director told reporters last night that some 2,500 trucks carrying food and other items have entered the region during the last two months.

Addis Ababa June 16/2022/ENA/ Understanding one another’s culture and mode of life contributes to the enhancement of peace, and stability, Culture and Sports Minister Kejela Merdasa said at the East Africa Art and Culture Symposium that took place today .

Opening the symposium, the minister stated that the region’s  culture has been increasingly under threat and needs immediate intervention to preserve it.

Youth Organisations join hands to foster peace, tackle societal ills

Rob Youth Foundation (RYF) has joined with the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) to promote basic youth tenets including peace among the youth in Namibia and beyond its borders. IPYG is a non-profit, non-government organisation which believes young people can bring peaceful change in the world.

The Foundation is premised on similar principles that are geared at youth empowerment, sensitisation and health awareness to name a few.

Tracing the foot-prints of a small-scale fisherman in Henties Bay

The Namibia Marine Ecosystem Services for Marine Spatial Planning (NAMares), a joint research project between the University of Namibia (UNAM) and Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, recently took a trip to investigate small scale fishery in Henties Bay.

UNAM in a statement said this activity forms part of the project’s ecosystem services’ case studies and complements the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources’ strategic focus on small-scale fisheries and their importance towards food security and poverty eradication.

East Africa Art, Cultural Festival open in Addis Ababa

June 14. 2022 (ENA) East Africa Art and Culture Festival has opened in Addis Ababa under the theme ‘Art & culture for regional integration.

The festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sport and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia includes book festival, art fair, music festival, film festivals among others will remain open from June 14th – 19th 2022.
