Federal Wheat Procurement Flounders

Procurement officials at the federal government have floundered in their efforts to buy hundreds of thousands of tonnes of wheat due to uncertainties over lack of interested bidders and technical issues.

The import of wheat is considered crucial to stabilise the market and provide welfare to low-income groups. The Ethiopian Trading Business Corporation (ETBC), a state-owned enterprise established with a capital of 3.8 billion Br in 2015, has been given the mandate to buy wheat this year, unlike in the past when the Public Procurement & Disposal Service carried out the task.

Legend has been on the Billboard 200 Albums chart for 685 weeks, rising as far as number five. This week the multi-platinum selling set backtracks from 46 to 52.

On the Billboard R&B Albums chart, Legend slips from five to six, while falling five places from 24 to 29 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

Paris, France, Feb 21 – The number of coronavirus vaccine doses administered worldwide passed 200 million Saturday, an AFP count showed, as wealthy G7 countries pledged to more than double aid to support access for the less well-off.

With 45 percent of injections so far among the rich club — which accounts for just 10 percent of the global population — the G7 on Friday said its aid to projects like the World Health Organization’s Covax now amount to $7.5 billion.

Geneva, Switzerland, Feb 8 – The World Health Organization insisted Monday that the AstraZeneca vaccine was still a vital tool in the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic, after South Africa delayed the start of its inoculation program over concerns about the drug’s efficacy against a virus variant.

As concerns rose over the AstraZeneca shot, the United States said it had lost its first sitting member of Congress to the virus, 67-year-old Texas Republic Ron Wright, who had also been battling cancer.
