All four teams which batted first in last Sunday’s matches of the Caesar’s Real Estate/ Hairoun Beer/ Nar Fren Dem Greiggs T/10 Softball Cricket Tournament, were victorious.

Starting off the trend at the Greiggs Central Playing Field was Owia, who beat Sugar Boys by 65 runs.

Batting first, Owia rushed to 99/2 from their 7 overs, the number of overs having been reduced because of a late commencement. Kirton Lavia hit a top score of 43 not out. Sugar Boys in reply could only make 34/7 from their 7 overs.

Kirton Lavia followed up his batting by taking 2/11.

The House of Representatives has urged the federal government to declare a state of emergency on all forest reserves in Owo, Ondo State, to aid the arrest of the attackers of the St. Francis Catholic Church in the town.

The House directed the police to intensify the search for the perpetrators of the attack, which claimed about 40 lives.

The resolution followed a motion of urgent public importance moved by Timehin Adelegbe (APC, Ondo) on Thursday during the plenary.

Caribbean countries that live in fear of being blacklisted by the European Union should band together and take legal action, according to Barbados-based economist and Caribbean policy expert Marla Dukharan.

The Virgin Islands has been added to the European Union’s “grey list” along with nine other jurisdictions in the Caribbean and elsewhere, the EU Council announced after its meeting on Feb. 24.

Besides the VI, the EU added the Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, Israel, Montserrat, Russia, Tunisia, the Turks and Caicos Islands, and Vietnam, bringing the total list up to 25 jurisdictions.

Nigerian fuel retailer, MRS Oil Nigeria, on Wednesday stirred controversy when it announced that the petrol it received from Litasco, the Swiss trading arm of Russia’s Lukoil, was substandard.
