Writing a tribute for brother is not easy. Ehis and I shared the same flat for over 16 years and there was never a dull moment. His sense of humor brought laughter to everybody around. His humility was exemplary, always ready give a helping hand.

The ancient Greek philosopher Epictetus said, “There is only one way to happiness, and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will.” Ehis lived this quote and I will try to live it.

ROLLING Stone Magazine paid homage to Jamaican Robbie Shakespeare last year when they named him among their 50 Greatest Bassists of All Time.

The reserved Shakespeare was listed at 17, ahead of his mentor Aston "Family Man" Barrett of The Wailers, whose bass lines laid the foundation for reggae legend Bob Marley.

American James Jamerson of Motown fame occupied pole position on the esteemed list.

Shakespeare, half of rhythm duo Sly (Dunbar) and Robbie, was unfazed by the acknowledgement.

State of emergency to be lifted Monday

Santo Domingo.- The Executive Branch announced Wednesday the lifting of the state of emergency, which will take place next Monday, October 11, 2021 and which entails the end of the curfew in the national territory and restrictions on freedom of movement, association and reunion.

The information was offered by the legal consultant, Antoliano Peralta, during a press conference in the National Palace.

He said the Government will announce new measures, as well as the legal framework under which they will be adopted.

The Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) and the Nigeria Tobacco Control Alliance (NTCA) on Friday wrote a petition to the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) demanding the prohibition of smoking in the Big Brother Naija Season 6 which commences later this month.

CAPPA and NTCA in the letter titled Big Brother Naija Season 6: NBC Should Enforce Ban of Smoking in the Entertainment Sector, and addressed to Director General of the NBC, Babalola Shehu Ilelah, commended the agency for prohibiting nudity on the show.

A prizegiving ceremony is being planned for early next month for Grenada Boys’ Secondary School (GBSS) students, who participated in a recent essay competition organised by a newly formed GBSS-affiliate group.

The GBSS Alumni International Foundation (AIF), which includes former students living in Grenada and in the Diaspora, has set out on a mission to assist in the growth and development of current students at the Tanteen-based education institution that first opened its doors in 1885.

Caribbean rum producers are joining forces with French group – CIRT-DOM – to get the best deal for their exports into major markets, particularly the European Union.

Rum producers of the Caribbean Forum, members of the West Indies Rum & Spirits Producers Association (WIRSPA), recently signed a MOU with their French counterparts CIRT-DOM – the traditional rum producers of Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guiana and Reunion, which are all departments of France.
