Grenada has formalised an agreement with the Organisation of American States (OAS) to observe general elections on 23 June.
This will be the eighth electoral observer mission mounted by the OAS to Grenada.
Grenada’s Permanent Representative to the OAS, HE Yolande Smith, signed the agreement last Friday with Secretary-General of the hemispheric institution Luis Almagro.

Some sections of our Nation have received the new NDC political leader and, by extension, the new NDC executive with profound exuberance, excitement and expectations.
To put the current resurgence in the NDC into proper historical context we need to go back to the 1990s. It is well known that for some time the NDC has been in a state of disarray and disorganisation.
Prime Minister, Dr the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell has confirmed that international observers will be in Grenada for the June 23 poll.
Election observer missions will be mounted by the Caribbean Community (Caricom) and the Organisation of American States (OAS), which responded positively to invitations extended by the Prime Minister following his announcement of the election date.
NAIROBI, Kenya Dec 8 – Aspirants seeking seats in the 2022 election have until December 9 to do fundraising.
The Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Wafula Chebukati said anyone violating the law will be locked out of the electionn.
“Aspirants cannot participate in fundraising either by themselves or proxies within eight months to the election period, being December 9, 2021. The import being to curb aspirants from influencing voters by donating funds and monies for support,” he stated.
Voters in 47 constituencies in the Somali, Harari and Southern regional states, as well as Dire Dawa City Administration, are casting their ballots in the sixth national elections. These were some of the constituencies that did not go to the polls along with most of the country in June this year, as the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) deferred votes due to irregularities with voters’ registration and security concerns.
A total of 7.6 million voters are expected to cast their ballots today.
