CDB projects return to economic growth in region this year

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) — The Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) is projecting an average gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 3.8 per cent this year for Caribbean countries.But in its Regional Report: 2020 Review and 2021 Outlook, released Thursday, the region's premier financial institution, said the projections is clouded by the ongoing uncertainty, caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Abnormal Records does Miraculous things

BUDDING producer Shamar “Krissonic” Chambers makes his debut with the Miraculous rhythm, released February 24 on all digital platforms. The project is a joint venture with Debarue Clarke of Rivernile Muzik.“The aim of this project is to bring back a hardcore dancehall sound with a little mixture of the modern 'trap' sound,” said Chambers.

Ocho Rios businessman not deterred by COVID-19

MONTEGO BAY, St James — While the novel coronavirus has brought much of the tourism sector to a screeching halt, owner of Double V Multi-Purpose Complex in Ocho Rios, St Ann, Colin Mills remains undeterred in going forward with expansion plans. Mills, who gave JIS News a recent tour of his property, said he has every confidence that tourism will make a triumphant return and did not want to be caught napping in terms of preparedness.

JPS closing seven offices

JAMAICA'S light and power company, the Jamaica Public Service (JPS), will be closing seven of its offices next month, as it begins the shift to a new digital customer service system.“Closure of the seven JPS offices will begin on March 8, after which only the Bill Express sections and the courtesy phones to call the JPS Call Centre will remain. Closures will be complete on April 1.
