African operations contribute 50% to UBA’s earnings – CEO

The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc on Thursday announced that all its African subsidiaries are now on firm footing as they have been contributing maximally to the group’s profit margin.

The bank said its African operations, specifically, have contributed close to 50 per cent of the group’s earnings, leveraging on digital offerings and products across the board to gain large market shares across the different regions of operations in Africa.

Africa Marketing Agency appoints Concord Times’ Gabriel Benjamin as Commissioner Delegate

Concord Times Chief Operating Officer, Gabriel Benjamin has been appointed by the Africa Marketing Agency Inc. to serve in the organizing committee board as liaison with Government entities, US Embassy and private sectors in Sierra Leone for the Agency’s 9th Annual Agribusiness and Economic Industry Summit in New York later this year.

The Marketing Agency says it is partnering with Concord Times to fulfill Goal2 of the Sustainable Development Goals and Aspiration 1 of Africa 2063 Agenda.

WHO: Covid-19 deaths in Africa to fall by nearly 94% in 2022

Deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic in the African Region are expected to decline by almost 94% in 2022 compared to 2021 which was the deadliest year of the pandemic, according to a new analysis by the World Health Organization (WHO).

This drop comes as the number of cases is expected to fall by just over 25% this year.

High Court to try bike rider for alleged murder

Twenty-nine-year-old bike rider, Ibrahim Mohamed Kamara, was yesterday committed to the High Court of Freetown by Magistrate Sahr Kekura of the Pademba Road Court No.1 for the alleged murder of one Alpha Sankoh.  

The accused person was before the court on one count of murder contrary to law.

According to the police file, it was alleged that the accused on Saturday 21st January 2022, at Ro-Theren village, Romende Chiefdom, PortLoko District, murdered Alpha Sankoh.
