Beacon assists Calliste Government School

On Wednesday, 17 May 2023, The Beacon Insurance Company Ltd., generously donated $1,000 to assist the Calliste Government School with its School Feeding Programme.

Molly Roberts, Branch Manager at Beacon Grenada, presented the cheque to school principal Antoinette Lewis, in front of faculty and students at the school.

People Empowerment Ministry vows Additional support for Safe Zone programme founded by Fabian Sargeant

The Safe Zone Programme has been pledged additional support from Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs Kirk Humphrey due to the fact Barbados needs its young men. Speaking this weekend at the closing ceremony at St. Leonard’s Boys’ School on Richmond Gap, Minister Humphrey says if Barbados was to lose 64 youngsters to violence and other crime, the country would be losing too.

Grade Six National Assessment set for June 23-24

The Ministry of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training, and National Excellence will administer the annual Grade Six National Assessment (G6NA) on Thursday, June 23, and Friday, June 24, 2022. A total of 854 students will be taking the exams across 70 centres around the island- 417 girls and 437 boys. The exams are set to begin at 7:45 am.

Ministry of Education and OECS to Host Stakeholder Consultations for the OECS Harmonized Primary Curriculum

A series of consultations on the OECS Harmonized Primary School’s Curriculum will be hosted this week by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the OECS through the OECS PEARL.

The consultations are carded for both the 16th and 17th of June.

National Coordinator – Charlene White Christian says she hopes that as many stakeholders can be engaged, both within the private sector and the public sector.

‘Goodbye discouraging learning environment’ – Onaushe Combined School welcomes new classroom blocks courtesy of MTC Rural Schools Project

Pupils of Onaushe Combined School in Uuvudhiya constituency, Oshana region on Friday welcomed a new block of four classrooms and a storeroom courtesy of the MTC Rural Schools Project.

Built at the cost of over N$800,000, and donated in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the classrooms will ensure that learners at the school are taught in a conducive environment.

GFNC National Secondary Schools’ Nutrition Quiz Final results

The St George’s Institute is the winner of this year’s Secondary Schools’ Nutrition Quiz.

This is their first time competing in the quiz, where they dethroned defending champions Bishop’s College with 72½ points, leaving Bishop’s College to settle for second with 71½ points. Grenville Secondary School claimed the third spot with 62½ after an intense sudden death round, pushing St Mark’s Secondary School into 4th place on 57½ points.
