Resident Minister opens Skye Bank Bo Branch

The first provincial branch of Skye Bank (SL) Limited has been opened in the southern city of Bo by the Resident Minister Hon. Mohamed E.K. Alie.

The opening ceremony which took place on Wednesday 25th May 2022 at the Bank edifice at 148 Mahie Boima Road, Bo was graced by the Resident Minster, Boja Chiefdom Paramount Chief PC Samba Sindi Hindowa, Brigade Commander, the Police and the bank’s esteemed customers among others.

Addis Ababa February 6/2022/ENA/  The President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta urged African leaders to maximize their efforts to eliminate Malaria by 2030 in the continent.

President Kenyatta, who is also chair of the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA), made the remark today during the launch of the 2021 Malaria Progress Report on Africa in Addis Ababa on the margins of the ongoing 35th African Union Summit.

According the report malaria remains a significant threat to the health and socio-economic development of Africa.

Hassan B. Jallow, the Chief Justice of the Gambia has called on the Gambia Government to look into the conditions of service of judicial officers, particularly as regards their retirement benefits.

Two Supreme Court Judges in the persons of Justices Raymond C. Sock and Gibril B. Samega Janneh retired after attaining the mandatory retirement age for judges in 2021.

Lawyer Salieu Taal, the President of the Gambia Bar Association on Sunday called on Gambia Government to overhaul the draconian and undemocratic laws conceived, designed and used to perpetuate dictatorship in the country.

Senior Counsel Taal stated this before a gathering at the Official Opening of the 2022 Legal Year in the presence of President Adama Barrow and Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow.

Senegal has qualified to the next stage of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) after beating nine-man Cape Verde 2-0 on Tuesday at the Bafoussam Stadium, Cameroon.

The Teranga Lions had to wait until their opponents were down to nine men when two of their players were shown red cards—midfielder Patrick Andrade in the 21 minutes and goalkeeper Vozinha in the 57 minutes.

Promoted side Falcons FC have defeated reigning Champions Fortune FC by 2-1 on Sunday at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

The Abuko-based side goals were scored by Edward Ndecky and Pa Abdou Cham and Edi scored for the Petroleum Boys.

Banjul United have finally picked up their first three points in the First Division league on Sunday after triumphing over Marimoo FC. Played at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum, the bottom team in the domestic top-flight beat Marimoo 2-0 courtesy of Muhammed Samba and Ansu Jawara.

Bologna and Gambia star Musa Barrow’s 71-minute goal puts the Scorpions in the quarter finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as they beat one of the tournament’s favourites Guinea Conakry by 1-0.
