IDA hosts trade missions from French Islands to increase foreign direct investment in Dominica

The Invest Dominica Authority is currently hosting an inward investment mission which started on June 12 and will continue until June 17th. Executive Director of the IDA Rhoda Joseph stated that these missions from the French West Indies, are a part of the authority’s strategy to increase foreign direct investments and to seek partnerships with foreign investors in key areas of sectoral interests.

Recent studies of global broadband and mobile data pricing from United Kingdom-based telecommunications provider Cable.co.uk haven’t turned out well for the Virgin Islands, which has consistently shown to have some of the highest prices in the world for those services.

However, when it comes to electricity, the VI ranks near the middle of the pack regionally.

Just 11 out of 28 Caribbean countries have cheaper electricity than the VI, according to a study released last month from the company.

Val Ferry, which services the French island of Guadeloupe and the Nature Isle of Dominica, is set to resume operations on December 10th. The services of Val Ferry had been disrupted for the past 20 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Managing Director of Val Ferry, Leroy “Wadix” Charles, stated that their Roseau office is now pended for bookings; the company thanks all those involved for bringing recommencement of the ferry service to Dominica.

PONANT is making Barbados its homeport for one of its newest PONANT EXPLORER vessels.

This winter season, the Le Dumont-d’Urville will be sailing from the Bridgetown Port with two, nine-day Caribbean itineraries lined up. Not only this, but the luxury expedition line will also be making Barbados a port-of-call for five other nine-day Caribbean itineraries.
