US hopes to seize VI-linked jets

A federal court in New York has authorised the United States government to seize two private jets collectively worth $410 million that are allegedly owned by a Russian oligarch and registered via “shell companies” in the Virgin Islands and elsewhere, according to an affidavit filed for a seizure warrant in court on Monday.

Dar es Salaam. Ilala lawmaker, Mussa Azzan has been elected new Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly with 98.3 percent of all votes cast.

Out of 301 casted votes, Azzan, alias 'Zungu' garnered 296, out of which three were 'NO' and two destroyed.

Zungu will now be the second-in-command in the 12th parliament, with Dr Tulia Ackson, elected on February 1 serving as the Speaker.

The Bahamas Aquatics Federation has named a four-member team for the 15th FINA (International Swimming Federation) World Short Course Swimming Championship (25 meters), set for December 16-21, at the Ethiad Arena, on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Caribbean Travel Marketplace returns to in-person format in 2022

In light of gradual reopenings and increased vaccinations, Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) is moving to stage the 40th edition of its travel marketplace event in face-to-face format. The event is expected to take place by May of next year.

Dubbed the region's largest tourism marketing event, Caribbean Travel Marketplace (CTM) aims to bring together buyers and sellers of the region's tourism products, goods and services. The event will also coincide with the CHTA's 60th anniversary.

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has sent a condolence message to the late Zimbabwe Investments Development Authority (ZIDA) chief executive officer Douglas Munatsi’s family following his sudden death in a house fire Monday morning.

In a statement, Mnangagwa described Munatsi as a creative and visionary business leader.

“The death early this morning of our inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the Zimbabwe Investments Development Authority (ZIDA) in unclear circumstances came to me as a great shock,” Mnangagwa said.
