VI electricity costs near region’s average

Recent studies of global broadband and mobile data pricing from United Kingdom-based telecommunications provider Cable.co.uk haven’t turned out well for the Virgin Islands, which has consistently shown to have some of the highest prices in the world for those services.

However, when it comes to electricity, the VI ranks near the middle of the pack regionally.

Just 11 out of 28 Caribbean countries have cheaper electricity than the VI, according to a study released last month from the company.

Customers win big with Kooyman

Last week Kooyman closed its first end of year raffle with the presentation of $20,000 worth of Kooyman cash prizes. Customers had to spend BDS $75 to enter and the competition ran from November 23 to December 31, 2020.

Grand prize winners gathered at the store to select their prizes from the magical boxes that had stood on display for the duration of the competition. Michelle Husbands-Browne won the $3000 Gift Card, Sophia Hercules won the $4500 Gift Card and Samuel Pyrtuh won the $7500 Gift Card.

Adam Stewart intent on advancing dad’s legacy

MONTEGO BAY – Adam Stewart is the new executive chairman of Sandals Resorts International. He becomes just the second chairman in the company’s 40-year history. He was preceded by his late father and chairman, Gordon “Butch” Stewart, a pioneer in Caribbean tourism who broke the ceiling of all-inclusive luxury after founding the organization in 1981 and played a pivotal role in bolstering the region’s popularity.

Stewart assumes the role after working alongside his father for more than two decades, serving as chief executive officer and most recently deputy chairman.

He assumes the role after working alongside his father for more than two decades, during which time he served as chief executive officer and most recently deputy chairman.

Stewart, who becomes just the second chairman in the company’s 40-year history, said he was committed to honouring his father’s legacy of innovation.
