The Government of Liberia has placed a travel restriction on Lebanese Businessman George Haddad, Patricia Fahnbulleh and Professor Dew Tuan-Wleh Mayson.
The government’s action is in the wake of report that the Grand Jury of Montserrado County has indicted the mentioned persons for over US$250,000 theft.
But Professor Mayson, one of the indictees is reportedly in Nigeria and government lawyers are currently seeking his extradition through an INTERPOOL’s arrest warrant to compel his prosecution in the country.
Businessman Haddad & others travelling embargo, according to our Judicial Correspondent, was approved by Criminal Court ‘C’ Resident Judge Blamo Dixon on February 19, 2021, following an application filed by government lawyers for a Writ of NE-EXEAT REPUBICA which seeks to prevent the indictees’ exit from the country.
Our Judicial Correspondent further revealed that Judge Dixon’s order has instructed all security officers at various entrance points to arrest the living bodies of the three individuals in question if they attempt leaving the country in violation of his order.
