There was little need for members of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Referees Association, to go to the ballots last Monday afternoon at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown, as all but one of the positions were elected unopposed.

The occasion was the hosting of the SVGFRA’s Annual General Meeting, in which a new executive was elected for the next two years.

The cue for the unanimous return of the outgoing executive came when Elron Lewis, whose served from 2019 to 2021, was given an extension, as there was no one to oppose him.

However, the post of vice-president went the way of a 21-5 win for Shesford John over Garth De Shong.

Thereafter, it was plain sailing as the positions of treasurer, secretary, public relations officer and the four committee members were all installed without challengers.

Hence, Mahalia Thomas retained the post of treasurer, likewise secretary, Maxian Richardson and public relations officer, Fitzgerald “John Hinds” King.

The list of committee members saw Debbie Jordan and Elron Poyer retaining their position, with De Shong and Justin Bullock added.

At last Monday’s elections, the general body voted to have the number of committee members increased from three to four.

Prior to the elections of the executive, the meeting heard the SVGFRA’s report for 2019 to 2021.

Homage was also page to Moeth Gaymes, Danroy Barker and Kenron Daniel, St Vincent and the Grenadines’ current certified FIFAs match officials.

Gaymes is a referee, while Barker and Daniel are assistant referees.
